The Food and Drug Administration has indicated that the popular diabetes drug Rezulin will be withdrawn from the U. S. market. Rezulin, also known by the generic name Troglitazone, is a product produced by Warner-Lambert/Park-Davis. The removal of the Rezulin comes after Warner-Lambert/Park-Davis and senior FDA officials had supported its continued use in the face of mounting deaths in recent repudiation of the pill by numerous health insurers and hospitals. It is estimated that approximately 1.9 million people have taken Rezulin at one time or another to lower blood sugar in people with Type 2, or adult on-set, diabetes, the most common form of the disease.
