Extravasation Injury

An extravasation injury occurs as a result of an accidental injection or leakage of fluid into the tissue surrounding the area of an IV injection site. An extravasation injury is one of the most severe complications associated with the administration of IV drugs and can cause serious harm or even death if the injury is not properly diagnosed.

An extravasation injury can be considered medical malpractice if a medical professional fails to quickly and properly diagnose and treat the injury to prevent further devastating damage to a patient.

If you or a loved one has suffered an extravasation injury you suspect was caused by medical malpractice, you may be entitled to seek compensation for your losses and suffering. Extravasation Injury and Medical Malpractice

It is extremely important that an extravasation injury diagnosis is not missed or misdiagnosed. A missed diagnosis can lead to extreme injury involving loss of limb function, amputation, and cosmetic disfigurement . In the event that an extravasation injury is misdiagnosed, the patient may receive treatment for other possible conditions that could prove severely harmful.

If a patient is wrongly diagnosed with an extravasation injury, they may experience devastating physiological suffering because the treatment for such injuries is traumatic to the body and can trigger or aggravate extravasation . An extravasation injury misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis, or wrong diagnosis can lead to devastating physical and mental pain and suffering.
